On the weekend following the Presidential election of 2004, Warren Jenny and Jeanie Hanes hosted the inaugural Texas Swift Boat mini-reunion in Austin Texas. Although original expectations were for sailors in just the regional area, attendees came not only from all parts of Texas but also from California, Kansas, North Carolina, Louisianna and Oklahoma.

As swiftmates began to roll in on late Friday before the actual get together on Saturday, they all convened at a near by Tex-Mex resturant not far from the pre-arranged reunion hotel: Matt's El Rancho with excellent traditional Texas fare, enjoyable surroundings and plenty of liquid refeshment to assist all to get in the mood for a real old fashioned "yee haw" Texas and Swift Boat confab and reunion.

At a reasonable hour on Saturday morning (10 AM), Swiftys converged on the close by Mckinney State Park Dining Room to hold the reunion. Several other Swift Boat sailors from Houston and San Antonio also drove up that morning to join the convocation.

The dining room is actually a screened in rustic meeting room with kitchen provisions for preparing food. This suited both the moderate Texas November weather and also Jeanies' arrangement of a par excellant Texas bar-b-que with all the fixins.

It did not take long for the attendees to really start to enjoy each other's company with emotional meetings of old crewmates, long talks with SBSA friends made only via email contact and greetings for well known shipmates from those times so long ago.

The activities continued at a steady pace, orchestrated by Warren and Jeanie, until late in the afternoon. By six o'clock everyone was "just plumb tuckered out" and left the state park with fond memories that will last until at least the next Texas mini-reunion
